SERVICES – Your Ebook Cover

EBOOK COVERS

My basic fee is $45.00 to design an ebook cover. This fee includes several initial variations (usually 3) on the style and/or design of your cover using a number of different fonts and placements. I will also manipulate the image you send me if I think it will enhance the look you are seeking. From there, you can ask for three further amendments. If you require more than the six variations that we have now tried, then I charge an additional $5.00 per tweak.

If you want to use two images for your ebook cover and I have to merge or blend them, then my fee is a bit higher – $55.00.

My basic fee does NOT include any time that I may spend looking for an image for you. If you want me to look for an image then I will have to charge for my time.

My design fee is payable through Paypal, so currency conversion is done automatically. I will send you an invoice so you have a record of the expense of your e-book cover.

Turn around time is about three days from the time I reply to your email. If you want express service, where I work solely on your cover design until it is finished, then the fee is $55.00.

If you want extensive work done that requires a lot of time to design your cover, I will have to charge you more for the cover. If this is a possibility, I’ll let you know in advance.

You will need to send me the image of your choice for your cover. Many public domain or royalty free images can be found at Wiki Commons and Vecteezy. If you use one of these images for your e-book cover design it is possible you will STILL have to credit the original creator. One of my personal favourite spots is Pixabay. You might also try Flickr in their creative commons area. Freepik, Pexels and Public Domain Vectors have wonderful resolution pictures that are in the public domain and free of charge.

If you don’t mind paying a bit for a great resolution ebook or book cover image, Crestock has a fairly good selection for as little as $6.00 and CanstockPhoto has a very good selection.

Please remember to read all image copyright material carefully.

For me to begin your ebook cover design I will need the following:
– Your image
– The name of your e-book/book.
– How you want to be listed as author. For instance – you may use a pen name
– The genre of your ebook

Print on Demand (POD) BOOK COVERS

For POD covers I provide the front, back and spine to KDP or Ingram Spark specifications. The POD cover is a 300 dpi high resolution image in PDF format.

To make your cover I will need to know the size for your book and the number of your book pages.

My fee is only $125.00 for a POD cover.

TIPS ON COVER DESIGN

When planning your ebook or print book cover, remember – simple is better. Your potential purchaser will only see a tiny thumbnail when they surf a vendor site. Stick to showing the title, your author name and a single image that gives the mood of your book. And with your image, don’t try to show your reader details of what YOU want them to see in the story. Let them use their imagination to enter your story and make it their own.

Pay for a good quality image for your book cover or use one of the free image sites I mention above. Images often come in different sizes so ask me which size to purchase. Generally a medium size will work very well for an ebook. For a print cover a larger image is suggested.

And here’s a novel idea! Maybe you don’t need an image at all. Maybe just texture or an interesting use of color or a filter will sell you ebook better.

Plan on a font that is easily read at a glance. Printed book covers can be held in your hand and examined at leisure. An ebook cover is viewed on a website in a very small size. The eye is skimming the site looking for a reason to stop. An easily read font will attract attention over a fancy font every time.

3D EBOOK COVERS

The 3D image I create allows your ebook to look like a paperback standing upright on a table. There appears to be a slight curve in the cover and a reflection of the cover beneath it.

This e-book cover design looks fantastic on a personal website.

My fee for this type of cover is $15.00 when I have created the original image.

A WORD ON COPYRIGHT

Before you send me an image, be aware that pictures you obtain from the internet can have the same copyright restrictions as your upcoming ebook. You may have to give credit to the creator of the image.

To give cover image credit, place the credit on your copyright page.

I have a limited number of stock e-book covers that you may be interested in.

If you would like your book title and author name placed on one of these covers – without any amendments whatsoever – then the cost would be $30.00 for a cover.
